About Cameron Mouton

Cameron Reneé Mouton is a 22 year old Afro-Latina who was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She became interested in reading and writing at the young age of four, despite not being very good at either at the time.  As she made her way through grade school, she excelled in her classes relating to English and history. She graduated from high school a year early at the age of 16 in order to get a head start at a college career by taking the California High School Proficiency Exam. After graduating from Los Angeles Valley College with an Associates Degree in English at the age of 18, she went onto attending the University of California, Los Angeles and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in American Literature and Culture with a minor in African American studies.

Along with publishing her first book of poetry and prose titled Mixed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has experience editing essays, manuscripts, and other works as an English tutor for LAVC, where she worked for three years. She currently has experience editing book reviews as UCLA's Ufahamu Journal’s Junior Book Review editor (their one and only undergraduate staff member), as well as working for The Festival Review as their book review editor and writer. Due to this, she has experience working with most, if not all, Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as experience working with most of the Google Office Programs. During her senior year at UCLA, she worked as a sales associate at BookZone, UCLA’s general bookstore, and has a vast knowledge of what books consumers are interested in genre-wise.

Since 2022, Mouton has worked as a subtitling content specialist for Pixelogic Media, focusing primarily on Disney films and shows. She has done subtitles for movies as popular as the latest Marvel films, to as discrete as Hulu documentaries.

She is interested in assisting marginalized populations such as LGBTQ+, women, and POC groups by telling their stories as authentically as possible through their shared works. With her experience in academia, she's witnessed firsthand the damage and belittlement not being able to express one’s authenticity can cause, and as an editor, has made it her goal to keep these groups’ thoughts and ideas as close to the original as possible.
